The Cult of Beauty
The Cult of Beauty examines how ideals of beauty have been constructed, circulated and contested across history, from art and philosophy to medicine, cosmetics, marketing and contemporary visual culture. Adapted from a Wellcome Collection project, the exhibition brings together artworks, documents, objects and installations to question aesthetic norms, body politics and the industries that shape desire. Its relevance to CdD lies in the way it connects design, image culture, identity, product systems and the visual construction of the body.
